"Transacting based on material non-public information is also the definition of insider trading. The lending group doesn't know any more than we as shareholders know."
That only applies to shares that are bought or sold on the open market. Anyone who purchases shares or loans money directly with the company can sign an NDA which gives them access to inside information. They just can't sell or buy additional shares until the information that's been given to them is made public.
