Interesting discussion, the problem is that it can not be had without goin into politcs which will not be good here as we all have different opinions (and rightly so).
But let me say the following: we elect our leaders and we have institutions like FDA, NIH, CDC so they advance and protect the interests of us, the people that elect and fund them with taxes.
They should be trying to further the best solutions to the COVID pandemic swiftly and effectively, regardless of other considerations.
I leave it to you to answer to yourselves if they are doing it.
