There isn't a CCL5 analog on the SARS-Cov-2 envelope / there isn't a CCR5 binding spike protein, as far as anyone's aware. The issue is cells infected are sending out cytokines as a biochemical 'scream' that alerts T cells to flock to them. The T cells show up, guns blazing, and wreck healthy tissue along with the diseased. Leronlimab is a pair of earplugs; it allows the T cells to do their work in an orderly fashion, non-destructively.
