Go read the story of Shkreli, Turing and Imprimis then tell me they won't work against their own interests. A small price increase would have meant profitability, instead they screwed themselves over.

Sociopaths have their own thought processes. Many enjoy the thought of screwing over other people even if it means a negative for them. Narcissism usually accompanies sociopathy, they think they're smarter than everyone else and can get away with it.
