Re: ClosetInvestor #11308
A bone marrow transplant is too risky for the purpose of curing HIV.
Some HIV patients with cancer need a bone marrow transplant to fight the cancer.
If these get transplanted with bone marrow from a donor missing CCR5delta 32 they’re cured from HIV too.
Problem being that it’s difficult to find these kind of donors.
Idea is: use bone marrow from “normal donors” in combination with Leronlimab.
Apparently dr. Sacha has tried to give SIV infected animal primates a bone marrow transplant in combination with Leronlimab.
And they were cured?
If this works for animal primates it might work in humans.

Still, because of the risk of a bone marrow transplant it will only be used for HIV/cancer patients needing such a transplant and not for HIV patients wishing to be cured.

Maybe someone else can explain better. This is my understanding.
