And we know that some hedge funds in the past hired private investigators to try to get advance intel on how clinical trials were doing. They suborned doctors, nurses, orderlies, and even custodians to try to get info from the clinical trial sites about whether patients were improving. In one case, the investigator got license plate numbers of people parked outside a clinical trial site, found out who the car was registered to, and then went to their Facebook pages because people would post things like "feeling better, doctor said it hasn't progressed" --which of course the patients shouldn't have posted, but still -- how were they to know that scumbags would be watching their Facebook posts? It was a more innocent time.
