I've been to Long Beach a long time ago and visited Howard Hughes Spruce Goose etc-which was then at Long Beach not far from where our ship is now docked-but what I remember most about that leg to Spruce Goose was practically choking on the heavy oil in the air as we traveled at 20 mph on the freeway parking lots-jokingly called parking lots-and the oil wells in peoples tiny yards- the air is cleaner across most of the U.S. now. LA was so crowded and the roads were like rush hour at midnight even so we had to get away to San Diego for a couple days-a city of only 2 million.
