I was typing up a similar response!!! You beat me to it! Yes agree with all. We actively sought him out because of his skill set. Furthermore, if you watch the podcast he specifically states that you would be hard pressed to find someone with a similar background and experience that is available now. He is our guy. No question about it!
Yes, you do not have to be young to be motivated. My Grandfather on my Dad's side got his Doctorates in his late 50s. My other Grandfather on my Mom's side got his pilot license in his mid-50s. Now my grandparents are in their 80s and my Grandmother just picked up Yoga.
A philosopher teacher in the 70s said something like: Life is not a journey which implies a destination, life is a musical thing. The point of the music is to enjoy the song, otherwise we would just skip to the end and play the last note! Wouldn't that be something? To go into the music hall to hear Beethoven's 5th Symphony. The conductor say's begin and the Orchestra plays the last note and everyone goes home! That would be ridiculous. Life too often is compared to a journey which implies a destination. You don't get to 40 years old and say "By God I've made it" No. Life keeps going. Life is a musical thing. It is more like a dance, the point of the dance is to enjoy the dance.
Doug Gillen enjoys the challenge of building up companies. He is our guy and he is not done dancing!!!!
