Kurt...as I said before scaling was the first thing that came to Steve's attention.They couldn't scale Rice tech thru batch and so looked at other ways to do so.Steve approached Access2Flow to help accomplish that goal.The company has reported endless times it's ability to scale.The reactor has been shown in action many times and known to be able to produce as stated.The materials QMC makes are bespoke so it's not like you make 4 tons of QD and stock it on a shelf like canned goods waiting to ship it.QMC had had a large head start over its competitors whom I remember mocking the flow process and that time and experience is invaluable.
My opinion is to get as many of these reactors licensed out and producing ASAP into the market and go the VHS vs Beta route.I also like the UDC model which made that companies SP rocket over the years and is based on licensing not production.
As far as patents they are good but getting to market is more important.I watched the founder of Ring on Shark tank say that he didn't patent his device and instead used his know how and time advantage to get the product to market and get share of it before knock offs would arrive.Ring just got bought for a billion dollars by Amazon..their established brand name and product got them a huge headstart and why they are a success.Brand name is a big as well as early market penetration .Fortunately this market is still in its infancy and QMC has an early mover advantage in mass production.I hope they use this advantage.
