For this reason:

Quote:
To add insult to injury, our bodies become less efficient at absorbing Vitamin B12 as we age. This turns into a double whammy for many adults – that is, they’re not getting enough vitamin B12 in their diet to begin with, and the vitamin B12 they are getting isn’t being properly absorbed anyway.

I long ago started using a multiple that contains the fat soluble form of B12....it stays in the body longer than water soluble.

I'm really surprised that the article didn't mention methylcobalamin

Quote:
Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) is active immediately upon absorption, while other forms (e.g., cyanocobalamin) must be converted to methylcobalamin in a two-step process. Methylcobalamin demonstrates exceptional activity in areas where other forms are simply not active. B12 supplementation is recommended for vegetarians and those with B12 deficiency.*

It helps form red blood cells, prevents vitamin B12 deficiency and helps maintain good health.* In people with low levels of B12, supplementation is very effective in improving energy levels and restoring mental function.*
