Sand Hill investing strategy
Fity it might be a good lesson for those if you discussed the Sand Hill strategy, which by the way has evolved in the last 20 years. I was in the Bay Area some years ago on business and visited a fellow who was doing some work for the infamous Don Valentine at his cave on Sand Hill Road -- fact is, full disclosure, I wanted to meet Don Valentine, the first institutional investor in Apple.
This person I visited, I thought for 30 minutes, now and has been involved with DECN to a larger degree, but I digress. One of the philosophies they subscribe to on Sand Hill is that idea and concept, that almost all parts of a venture company are interchangeable. I dropped by only to say hello, and 30 minutes later was offered a job as CEO of a venture merchant marine company in New Orleans. I was actually in Menlo Park to meet a young (gulp) Peter Thiel. I know nothing about boats, or is it ships. Well, I got off on a tangent.
