Dems say no such thing. Any objective measure of voter demographics confirms that Dems attract the votes of the better educated, and the votes of most of the most talented producers in our current economy.
GDP is MUCH higher in Blue States VS Red States, no matter how you choose to aggregate and compare. In other words, take your top five from each group. The taxes from the Blue State GDP subsidize Red State America. Ingrates.
What Dems DO believe is that the less fortunate, both in the Ghettos and in Appalachia, deserve a hand-up.
That's why Dems defend SS and Medicare, which help as many or more who live in Red State America as who live in Blue States.
