You're right about that "higher standard." Judges take pains to avoid even the appearance of wrong doing. I can give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he was unaware of the potential conflict of interest at the time of his decision. If so I can only hope R&G have pointed it out to him in he privacy of his chambers.
