Next-gen QD 2-Fer ?
Doing a little hypothetical extrapolating here, but it appears as though Google, VW & partners may[?] be venturing into an area where QDots might do some multi-tasking. First in quantum computing [QC] & secondly in the QD-battery sector. Per this PR; https://www.engadget.com/2017/11/07/vw-google...batteries/ , this JV involves QC & "better EV batteries". As is known, Google has been pursuing QC in-earnest & VW, for its part, has invested in a ultra-secretive next-gen battery tech company called; Quantumscape, as mentioned (along with VWs' long-term vision) here: http://www.electric-vehiclenews.com/2017/09/v...nt-in.html And where it gets interesting (to me), is where Quantumscapes' interest's can be linked to a fellow named Fritz Prinz & Stanfords 'All-Electron Battery', which involves the use of QDots...follow the yellow brick road: http://evworld.com/news.cfm?newsid=34758 & http://cafe.foundation/blog/electron-battery-...d-strikes/ Related patents: http://www.google.com/patents/US20100183919 & http://www.google.com/patents/US8524398
More related reading if at-all interested: https://greentransportation.info/ev-batteries...urers.html & https://www.linkedin.com/company/quantumscape/ *None of this is to say for sure that this is how things will shake-out in the end...I feel sure these companies have wide spread interests in new battery techs of various kinds & they may-well end up somewhere nobody even considered....but a QD-battery still has a nice 'what-if ring' to it, don't you think
