One thing your posts make me think of is being away from city lights and looking into the sky on a clear night. You can see MILLIONS and MILLIONS of stars........it is mind blowing! Alas, I would venture to say that most have never had that experience and probably many that have had the experience have forgotten about it.
I have been fortunate over the years and have had this experience while on a small sloop. The MILLIONS of stars at that point turn into BILLIONS as you take a 360 degree view of what is around you and my very small neuron begins to "smoke" when I consider that what I'm seeing is just a very small fraction of what there is out there. Now add some very strange ocean sounds to the mix and you're having an experience that you'll ponder often. As soon as my foot hits the shore I'm be ready to go sailing again.
