Re: nucwarrant #6515
Correct, there will be winner and losers. I can't seem to find the article that discusses this, but some argue that we will have a recession or depression caused by breakthroughs in renewable energy, like solar being the cause. I don't know that the overall economy will see a recession, but there will be decline in all energy sectors, but renewable, specifically solar.
They will discover efficient energy storage solutions and solar cell efficiency will be so high that no energy production method will be able to compete.
This will cause coal, oil, and natural gas power plants to close and nuclear may follow too. This will cause significant job loss for this sector, but on the flip side the production, installation, and operation of solar cells will provide even more jobs than all the job losses. The problem isn't in the job loss. The problem is having a work force that is willing to be retrained and do something new. Unfortunately, from my life experience, humans don't like change and therefore this will be the biggest hardship and slow the economic rebound of those affected by the the job losses.
