How is that for real?! People are shorting 2 milly and covering 50% lower? The purpose of this short attack is not to make money shorting. It is to accumulate at lower prices. And yes the shorts being in control (for now) of the share price is an added bonus for them. They'll use the additional profits to drive this as high as possible before franchising has commenced.
