You talk about fear? That's because the Administration conflated Iraq with the 9/11 terror attack, carried out by Saudis. Then they, Cheney in particular, ginned up the WMD B.S. Yeah, it WAS fear alright.
Straw man argument to claim anyone 'admired' S. Hussein. Who TF has expressed that on this board?
The point was that Saddam kept a lid on the sectarian madness he certainly knew would tear the country apart. Think ISIS get's a foothold anywhere in a Saddam ruled Iraq?
So yeah, I don't think we see the failed state that Iraq is today and I'm pretty sure there would be 200K+ Iraqis still alive if not for the intervention and the aftermath.
We had the lesson from the breakup of Tito's Yugoslavia. We had the lesson from Gulf War I, with Bush senior NOT going to Bagdad.
'We' being anyone who cared to look at all of that. Seems the minimum we should have expected from the Bush Admin.
