However, and I'm just asking in good faith, would not the exact same circumstances you've accurately described be crowed about endlessly by Republicans if they had occurred in a 2nd Bush term and under a GOP successor in '96?
Wouldn't those GOP presidents have been credited for 'creating the conditions' for the economic boom and 22M new jobs and for cooperating with the Dem opposition on the budget?
Do we know for certain that a small Gov GOP would have 'supported' the build out of the Internet, as Al Gore verifiably did?
