My take: they are trying, but...there is nothing revolutionary going on, especially with their top brass. Just maintaining slow, steady, status quo.
COTE is disruptive technology. It needs to find someone who is passionate for such a breakthru....a vigilant point person who is -engineer-tinkerer-discontent, not a CEO, but someone who can influence others to get eyes to see and ears to hear. GC cant do this. JP does what he does well in China.
Musk at Tesla went after energy solutions, but he laughs/scorns at hydrogen tech rather than searching it further....so he isn't in the hunt until hydrogen tech is better established. Then, maybe he will snicker and buy one of the winning solutions.
