Mike,
I am pretty sure there is more going on than the AC issued on October 8th. I know FAA isn't going to let this go by stopping at the AC issuance. It's a matter of what is happening now that FAA has to deal with.
The AC made it clear that Baltia will not be at fault. If they don't pass Baltia...and we already talked about this...The entire airspace will be shut down. Nobody wants that.
FAA knows that if Baltia is sitting around, a lawsuit will be created, and they want to avoid that. The AC is a temporary resolution that will allow all airlines flying. The problem has been around for more than 15 years...they can't fix it overnight, but they can do something to allow Balita move forward.
I know after this, FAA is going to review the slides requirements, and they are going to work with the vendors to improve manufacturing process. That is going to take time.
Public Safety...I agree. But the problem was already there long before Baltia came in the picture.
I doubt a blind eye is created. It's more like a "Let's take care of the problem by resolving Baltia first, so that we can tackle this whole thing as a whole.
