Yes he was. At least in 2013 that was the case. With 60% time allocation between Elto and MANF, that amounts to a day and a half a week on each at best. I assume he probably put much more time into it than that, as many Dr. have a life long commitment to helping others and make personal sacrifices in the process.
I would also assume he was brought on for his vast experience, 45 years of industry knowledge, and network vs. a doer, project manager, etc. Likely his focus was - how to you get MANF and Elto to market asap. . When he joined Amarantus, it marked a significant shift in strategy of the company from PD to orphans, which they have been successful at achieving those designations. 3 down and 3 more in the hopper.
