Unfortunately, I don't think that's the way it works. People don't resign prior to the sale. They resign right after the sale.
If he was leaving because of a sale, they would announce the sale (proudly) and then announce that Lowe was resigning to continue working on the asset for the buyer.
And I don't think "personal reasons" is a veiled reference to a sale.
