IMO it is just about dollars and greed. Our government doesn't care in the slightest about the overwhelming positives of the drug. They see a neighboring country a step ahead of the game, and want to scare american dollars into staying home until they can make a change. Public sentiment is in favor of MJ and continues to strengthen every day. If the feds ever even attemted to go after american investors the court system would overturn it before it ever even got off the ground. I will say that I don't see our government as being dumb. Incredibly inefficient and severly behind the times yes. They're just using what tactics they can to keep their piece of the pie from being eaten.
