During the Lakeshore town council meeting last night the council members seemed taken by surprise that the structure was to be used for growing medical marijuana, later a member admitted that he had approached property owners regarding potential marijuana grow sites. They seemed caught in the middle, not being able to refuse the permits and somehow (at least for show to the public) not wanting to. There was NO awareness of what HC building requirements are, one member admitted talking to other municipalities and their experience was the same, no sharing of HC regs. So nobody on the council knew the answers to the questions of odor and a requirement of armed security. The end result, I think, was that until they have a better grasp of what is required by HC, what traffic and site use studies look like they had better defer any new zoning regs.
