Nonsense. This stuff about RBC is bullshit. Today I actually called my broker, which is a Canadian Schedule A chartered bank, and inquired whether there was a problem trading (buying or selling) JBII. I was told no. I spoke directly with a trader. My bank is not RBC. It is non-eligible for RRSPs, but that has always been the case. That is Canada Revenue's call.
Now, unless someone has firsthand information to the contrary, this is just message board bullshit. I think it started over on iHub with someone's post about it. But, at the end of the day it is still bullshit. Someone would have to have an account at RBC in order to make the inquiry. I don't.
The answer I received today was not what I thought was most likely, but it is what it is.
If there was something serious it would be across the board (all banks). I can tell you there is one chartered bank that is not "colluding". They all Don't collude.
