Re: DougeTX #9441

WOW ! DougeTX, thank you for that tip that there are no underwater trees found in Minnesota.  That information is good to know.  I really am confused though, because my home is actually built with 100+ year old timber recovered from the mighty Mississippi --- recovered just one mile from my home.  I consider myself a student of history, and the Red River and Mississippi are filled with accounts of log drives and the brave men who guided these logs to mills and markets.  Of the ten thousand lakes said to be in Minnesota (actually closer to 12,000) many are still tested every year for mercury which was used to keep the logs from sinking.  I don't wish to argue, but I do suggest you recheck your facts.  Also every summer, attempts are still made to recover timber that sunk in Lake Superior --- the largest of the America's Great Lakes.
