Your reference to Donkey Kong brings back a memory for me.

I had recently purchased Donkey Kong and on day 2 of playing the game I was so engulfed in the game I sort of over-looked the time.  I was supposed to pick my wife up from work @ 4:00, that day.  Needless to say about 4:30, I get a call from my  wife asking where I'm at.  When I arrived 45 minutes late and saw the look on her face, let's just say it was priceless!

I no doubt learned to be more attentive to time after that.
