NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Major U.S. stock indexes posted a mixed finish, ending little changed as investors stuck to the sidelines ahead of earnings from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) after the closing bell and a meeting later this week of Federal Reserve policy makers. The S&P 500 (SNC:SPX) rose 2.34 points, or 0.1%, 1,762.11, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI JIA) was off 1.35 points, or less than 0.1%, at 15,568.93. The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) was down 3.23 points, or 0.1%, at 3,940.13.
