HMS Networks Achieves SBTi Validation for Climate Goals

HMS Networks Achieves SBTi Validation for Climate Goals

HMS Networks Receives Validation for Climate Targets

HMS Networks AB has achieved a notable milestone by securing official validation of its ambitious climate targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This achievement signifies the company’s dedication to sustainable practices and reducing emissions to align with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

The products offered by HMS are instrumental in helping companies enhance their sustainability and productivity. By facilitating communication between machines and devices, HMS aids in minimizing energy consumption and reducing the necessity for service-related travel. Moreover, the company has set high benchmarks for its sustainability objectives.

“Setting ambitious goals for sustainability is essential in today's world. With our targets validated by the SBTi, we are reaffirming our commitment to climate responsibility, which is not only a priority for us but is also increasingly demanded by our customers, partners, and investors,” remarked Staffan Dahlström, the CEO of HMS Networks.

Overview of HMS’ Net-Zero Targets

HMS Networks has laid out clear net-zero targets that highlight their commitment to sustainability:

Near-Term Goals

The company pledges to achieve a reduction of 55.84% in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline year. Additionally, HMS aims to cut Scope 3 emissions related to purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, and product use by 51.6% per SEK value added within the same time frame.

Long-Term Goals

By 2050, HMS Networks commits to a staggering 90.0% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, again using 2022 figures as the basis. For its Scope 3 emissions, the company seeks to achieve a reduction of 97.0% per SEK value added, encompassing the same categories as mentioned in their near-term goals.

This validation by the SBTi puts HMS in a select group of organizations that are proactively taking steps to combat climate change, reflecting their strategic long-term vision.

Integration of Sustainability into HMS’ Strategy

Launched in September 2025, HMS has introduced its 2030 Strategy emphasizing sustainability as a principal focus area. Gaining approval for their targets by the SBTi is a crucial component of this broader strategy. The company aims to seamlessly integrate sustainability into all aspects of its operations by 2030, making it a fundamental part of decision-making and collaborative processes.

Understanding the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is dedicated to guiding companies in establishing science-driven targets that aim to significantly reduce their emissions and confront the climate crisis. The initiative’s overarching goal is to reduce global emissions by fifty percent by 2030, with the vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

SBTi is a collaboration involving various organizations, including CDP, the UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and forms part of the We Mean Business Coalition.
