Gogo Galileo HDX Completes Installation on Challenger 300
Gogo Galileo Advances Toward Launch with Successful Installation and Initial Flight Testing
Gogo Business Aviation (NASDAQ: GOGO), in partnership with Duncan Aviation, proudly announces the successful completion of the first installation of Gogo Galileo HDX on a Bombardier Challenger 300. This achievement marks a significant step towards the anticipated commercial launch of Gogo's Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) global broadband solution. The installation has been completed, and initial flight testing is now underway.
Installation Process Details
The installation process, akin to that which will be used for around 4,000 aircraft equipped with AVANCE platform technology, involved adding a fuselage-mounted antenna on top of the aircraft. Key tasks included running power to the antenna and establishing a data line from the HDX back to the existing AVANCE L5 line replaceable unit (LRU).
Team Collaboration
Mark Winter, Duncan Aviation's Houston Satellite Manager, remarked, "Our skilled team finished the installation and began testing the system immediately with Gogo's engineers. We managed to connect and stream with eight devices simultaneously, and the results were nothing short of impressive. We are confident that customers upgrading to Gogo Galileo will appreciate this substantial enhancement in connectivity."
Next Steps in Testing
As Gogo progresses, the next phase of testing will further ensure the system’s performance and integrity. This will include rigorous electromagnetic interference (EMI) ground testing, vibration and buffeting evaluations, and a comprehensive flight testing campaign.
Milestone Achievement
Sergio Aguirre, Gogo’s president and chief operating officer, stated, "Reaching this milestone keeps Gogo Galileo HDX on schedule for a launch in the fourth quarter, on time and within budget. Customers can expect extremely reliable service on the Eutelsat OneWeb enterprise-grade LEO satellite network, which differs from competing LEO services by not sharing bandwidth with consumer users."
Current Programs and Future Plans
As highlighted in Gogo's second-quarter earnings report, the Gogo Galileo HDX has eight STC programs committed, covering 5,318 aircraft. Additionally, there are 21 more STC agreements in progress that will cover an additional 12,267 aircraft. The HDX antenna is designed to suit any business aircraft, boasting mean speeds of 57 Mbps and peak speeds reaching 60 Mbps. Moreover, an upcoming Gogo Galileo FDX antenna is set to debut in the first half of 2025, intended for larger aircraft, which will achieve mean speeds of 189 Mbps and peak speeds up to 195 Mbps.
Purchasing Options
Gogo is eager to accept purchase orders, and interested parties can view pricing and service plans on the Gogo website. Moreover, a special rebate of $25,000 is available for existing Gogo clients with legacy air-to-ground systems (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000) upon installing Gogo AVANCE SCS and HDX.
