CAE's Groundbreaking Contract for Australia's Training System
CAE has announced a significant milestone by securing a landmark contract with the Commonwealth of Australia for the Future Air Mission Training System (F-AMTS). This initiative, set under Project AIR5428 Phase 3, is aimed at enhancing air mission capabilities specifically for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
With a contract valued at over $270 million CAD, this long-term agreement marks a remarkable advancement in training methodologies for the Australian Defence Force over an initial period of ten years. The initiative is designed to upgrade how military personnel, particularly aircrew, are trained, allowing for enhanced readiness in various operational environments.
In collaboration with industry leaders including Nova Systems, Adacel, and DXC Technology, CAE will provide a modern, integrated training system that introduces an advanced learning framework. This includes training elements on the ground and in the air that simulate real operational challenges, thereby preparing RAAF personnel for complex missions.
The Future Air Mission Training System will be implemented at RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria. This innovative training solution targets the development of various roles such as Airborne Electronics Analysts, Air Mobility Officers, and Electronic Warfare Officers, ensuring that trainees have access to an engaging learning experience. Additionally, the program includes training for instructors to equip them with effective teaching tools.
France Hébert, President of Defense & Security, emphasized the importance of having a responsive training partner to meet the evolving demands of defense challenges. "Achieving mission readiness in today's security environment requires a comprehensive understanding of operational complexities," Hébert stated. CAE is committed to providing a scalable training solution that empowers aviators with essential skills and the confidence to tackle diverse operational requirements, thereby building strategic resilience in Australia's defense framework.
This new contract reinforces CAE's longstanding relationship with the Royal Australian Air Force, a partnership that has flourished since 1994 and significantly contributed to the training of Australian military aircrew. The F-AMTS project is anticipated to generate over 40 skilled job opportunities with CAE in Victoria, and the first cohort of graduates is expected to emerge in the near future.
