A Novel Leap in Production Capacity
EMCO Industries just put a solid foot on the accelerator with their brand-new, shiny, fully automated plant over in Claremore, Oklahoma. If you're glancing at heavy-duty trailer springs, you can't ignore the fact that this is a multimillion-dollar investment. Heck, this monstrous 30,000-square-foot facility more than doubles what EMCO can churn out. They're not talking pint-sized ambitions here but full-blown plans to dominate a crucial market segment.
Automation Meets Heavy-Duty Needs
This ain't your grandpa's spring factory. Imagine twelve robust robots riveted to stations, process bars of American steel like they're pastries, zipping those raw materials through shearing, tapering, forming, heat-treating, and quenching. They're not just about speed and precision but also processes that cut down lead time to just eight weeks. That’s way better than the average turnaround of 16 or 20 weeks most folks are fumbling with today.
"Bringing this plant online and appointing Wayne to lead our HD sales efforts are two key components of our strategy," said Marcus Hester, president of EMCO Industries.
Wayne Sornberger: A Name to Remember
Now, if you think static machinery seals deals on its own, you’re missing half the puzzle. EMCO brought in Wayne Sornberger, an industry vet with 35 years of springiness—I mean, spring sector wisdom. Wayne will be ramping up business development backed by an automated arsenal. His footprint covers all of North America, but his roots run as deep as the Alberta soil.
‘Deliver or Die’ Mindset
Customers stick around for one reason: they trust that what they ordered is coming on time. No excuses. Wayne hits the nail on the head by offering a domestic product crafted from pure American spirit and steel, including a reliable lead-time banishing the uncertainty of offshore tariffs and detours.
And EMCO sure brags about this hallmark of quality and the balance sheet-friendly lead times. They’ve geared up their domestic operations so much that OEMs can practically snub imports altogether.
Riding On Spring Technology
Oh, and let's not overlook what’s springing forth. Around a dozen or so heavy-duty spring configurations are being pushed through the assembly line, including the High-Performance Mono-Leaf Spring, a lovely number with a solid gross axle weight rating of 22,400 pounds. This beast drops package weight by a whopping 25%, from 53 to a mere 40 pounds.
Behind this technological marvel is an engineering team with a whopping 120 years of hands-on experience, cranking out springs with capacities ranging up to 14,000 pounds.
A Strategic Growth Vision
In the long game, doubling capacity is more than crunching out metal sheets. With the last few years showing how delicate supply chains can get, EMCO stands as a bulwark against offshore vulnerabilities. That alone makes them look mighty appealing to industries tired of playing Russian roulette with their component suppliers.
The president of EMCO, Marcus Hester, lay it straight: "Quality and price are table stakes in this business. If you can't deliver, none of it matters. That is what has earned us the business we have won over the last several years, and it is what the new facility protects as volume grows."
Could this shift out in Claremore rewrite the rules for domestic manufacturing of trailer springs? Well, seems like they’re paving that lane, and EMCO’s not afraid to pour the asphalt. Right now, they’re open for orders, aiming to lock down a bigger slice of the OEM pie, especially in a post-pandemic era where everyone’s gotten hip to the perks of local sourcing.
