Amerigo Resources Achieves Record Q3-2024 Copper Production
Outstanding Q3-2024 Copper Production Results
Amerigo Resources Ltd. (TSX: ARG; OTCQX: ARREF) proudly reports a remarkable copper production of 16.3 million pounds for the third quarter of 2024, surpassing initial expectations. This notable achievement highlights the effectiveness of our operational strategies and the continued demand for copper in the market.
Financial Overview and Cost Performance
In Q3-2024, Amerigo achieved a cash cost of $1.93 per pound, which was even more favorable than our guidance. With an average copper price of $4.22 per pound during this period, the financial indicators reflect a robust operational performance conducive to positive growth.
Strong Revenue and Dividends
In addition to outstanding production rates, Amerigo disbursed $8.5 million in dividends during Q3-2024, accumulating a total of $15.8 million year-to-date. This return is part of our ongoing commitment to shareholder value, which has been affirmed by our Capital Return Strategy.
Detailed Operational Highlights from MVC
At our Minera Valle Central (MVC) operation, 70% of copper production came from fresh tailings, complemented by a small contribution of 0.3 million pounds of molybdenum. Furthermore, MVC maintained impressive plant availability at 97%, ensuring consistent operational output.
Year-to-Date Performance
For the year-to-date figures, MVC has produced a total of 46.2 million pounds of copper, demonstrating a strong trend that places us ahead of the annual guidance of 62.4 million pounds. The normalized cash cost during this period remained consistent at $1.93 per pound, which again is below our guidance of $2.08 per pound.
Water Resources and Long-Term Sustainability
As of September 30, 2024, MVC boasts water reserves exceeding 10 million cubic meters. This ample supply is projected to sustain our historic tailings processing rates for at least the next eighteen months, reinforcing our commitment to environmentally responsible mining practices.
Copper and Molybdenum Pricing Trends
Current market conditions have seen fluctuations in copper and molybdenum prices, with copper priced at $4.22 per pound in Q3, down slightly from Q2's average of $4.39 per pound. However, the molybdenum price increased from $21.11 to $21.39 per pound, which illustrates variability in commodity markets.
Strategic Growth Initiatives
Amerigo continues to implement its Capital Return Strategy, which encompasses quarterly dividends, performance dividends, and share buybacks. Since its inception, we have returned a total of $72.7 million to our shareholders. This strategy is designed to adapt flexibly to market conditions while ensuring our shareholders benefit from rising copper prices.
