If you want to guarantee you will make money in the stock market, buy shares in profiting companies' stock on a high exchange such as the NYSE or NASDAQ. DJIA below 20,000 was a pristine and exceptional opportunity. We will never see that again, but any large dip is a great opportunity for any high exchange stock. Now onto OTC stocks.

The OTC Market is a vehicle for insider enrichment sucking the money from uninformed new share buyers.

98% of OTC Market stocks are failing companies or else they would trade on a higher exchange. It is a game of lies and deceit.

An OTC ticker is used as a vehicle to issue shares onto the public market as the share price continues to drop regardless of what the company does or says they do. It is 90% lies and disgust. Now don't get me wrong, there are far and few OTC stocks that over the years have some humps in the charts. But constantly remind yourself that these are not investments. Do not marry a current OTC stock because of their excellent business.

One of the most interesting things of the OTC Market is the death of an OTC stock. These things always go through the same cycle. An OTC stock can either be an SEC registrant, or a non-registrant (alternative reporting). SEC registraints must report financials 3 (three) 10Qs and 1 (one) 10K yearly.

They all start Pink current until the CEO gives up on the ticker (company) by doing one of two:

1. The failed SEC registrant company has no money left and eventually stops filing financials. The SEC will eventually suspend the stock due to deliquent financials. An SEC suspension lasts for 10 trading business days. After those 10 days, the OTC ticker resumes trading on the gray market (or newer expert market). There is no bid/ask available and the ticker continues into oblivion. The SEC will eventually revoke the registration and shares will be nullified. FINRA can also delete the ticker before the SEC gets to revoke the registration. FINRA will remove the ticker to do non-volatility.

2. The failed non-SEC registrant company goes quiet. Nobody hears from the CEO and no press releases exist. The CEO may have passed away or just doesn't want to deal with the SEC anymore. Filings are not required and the ticker can exist into eternity. A ticker in this scenario is ripe for fraudulent activity and most commonly is hijacked. The ticker can continue to exist as long as it is volatile. FINRA will not delete until there are months or years of no trade activity. The SEC will not suspend until after fraudulent activity has been confirmed. Usually after the 1000% run. These tickers are some of the most interesting and viably the ones with the most potential on the entire OTC Market.

An OTC stock can desist to exist two ways:
1. SEC revokes the stock registration OR
2. FINRA deletes the ticker symbol.

In both cases, the shares are nullified and shareholders lose 100% of the investment.

Now some may argue that it is foolish and wrong to trade a ticker that is a known scam or a company that does not exist. Unfortunately these things do exist and are freely trading without consequences. These zombie "shell" stocks do exist, and boy, do some of them run.

Why a .0001 non SEC-registrant stock ticker is perhaps a good investment?

.0001 is the lowest that retail can trade. Retail is you and me. Us: using TD Ameritrade, E*Trade, Charles Schwab, etc to send our bids or asks to market makers to trade OTC securities. .0002 is the next tick up and is a 100% gain. 1 is next to 2 on the cellphone and unfortunately some do "fatfinger" by clicking 2 instead of 1 when they buy. Unfortunately this does happen, and if your ask at .0002 just executed, you've done well. GTC (Good until cancelled) is your golden ticket. Set it and forget it. When a triple zero ticker does move, it moves very fast and within hours or minutes 200%, 300%, 400%, 500%+ gains can be made. Set your ask for GTC and just wait, your day will come. Ultimately, you'd want to find these things before anyone knows about them. Several tickers will be alerted here.
