The geological composition of the area presents a diverse mix of felsic to intermediate volcanics alongside clastic metasediments and komatiitic ultramafic rocks. Interestingly, previous mapping efforts have indicated the presence of stockwork quartz veining within these felsic volcanic formations. What’s remarkable is that this area has not undergone significant exploration, making it a prime focus for Winshear moving forward.
Exploring El Dorado and Beyond
Located in the eastern section of the project area, the El Dorado target is another avenue of interest. Geochemical analysis in this zone has returned encouraging gold, silver, and copper values that merit additional examination. Historical sampling by the Ontario Geological Survey has shown the potential for significant mineralization, with recorded values as high as 36.3 grams per tonne of gold within arsenopyrite-bearing quartz veins.
Exploring Central and Northern Areas
Beyond the Inflection and El Dorado targets, anomalous gold concentrations have been detected in the central and northern regions of the Thunder Bay project site. With a low sampling density in these areas, they present a unique opportunity for further investigation, especially as they are situated close to noteworthy structural lineaments that are visible in magnetic response. Plans for additional sampling are in the works, aimed at uncovering the extent of these anomalies and their sources.
What’s Next for the Thunder Bay Gold Project
Looking ahead, Winshear Gold is gearing up for a comprehensive Phase II exploration program, set to initiate soon. This will encompass the collection of about 150 till samples, 600 B horizon soils, and 250 prospecting samples. The company is also contemplating the use of drone-based airborne magnetic surveys targeted at the Inflection and El Dorado areas to enhance geological understanding.

The sampling process for this round of exploration has been meticulous, with till samples collected using pickaxes and shovels to reach unweathered material. Each sample, weighing approximately 3kg, has been carefully stored before analysis at Actlabs in Ancaster, Ontario.
