The Start of a New Season of Hope
Every holiday season, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation strengthens its commitment to honoring America’s heroes. The latest initiative, the Season of Hope, aims to deliver 50 forever homes to deserving families.
Delivering Homes to Brave Families
This year marks the seventh annual Season of Hope, a campaign that will provide mortgage-free homes to various families under the Foundation's umbrella. Starting this year, three homes will be dedicated in Florida, each representing a different program within the Foundation.
Highlighting Our Heroes
The families receiving homes include:
- Army Major Ivan Castro - Smart Home Program
- Army Staff Sergeant Adam McHugh - Gold Star Family Home Program
- Delray Beach Fire Lieutenant Ray Keith - Fallen First Responder Home Program
The Story of Army Major Ivan Castro
In a heartfelt ceremony, Retired Army Major Ivan Castro cut the ribbon on his newly renovated home in Orlando, Florida. Over his 28-year military career, Major Castro served valiantly as an Army Ranger and a member of the elite Special Forces. His missions took him to regions such as Afghanistan and Iraq, where he was injured in combat.
In 2006, while on duty with the 82nd Airborne Division, Major Castro faced a life-altering challenge when a mortar attack left him permanently blind. However, his journey did not end there; he continued to serve actively, breaking barriers by becoming the only blind soldier in his unit until retirement.
Support That Matters
Tunnel to Towers transformed Major Castro's home into an accessible environment fitted with smart technology, enabling him to manage his space effectively. This transformation has not only enhanced his living conditions but has given him the independence he fought so hard for.
A Tribute to Army Staff Sergeant Adam McHugh
Army Staff Sergeant Adam McHugh, who followed family traditions by enlisting in the army, served commendably for 16 years. His service culminated in numerous awards, yet his life was cut short due to service-related cancer. His family, including his wife Chelsea and two children, found solace in the financial support provided by Tunnel to Towers, which fully covered their mortgage.
The Legacy of Delray Beach Fire Lieutenant Ray Keith
Lieutenant Ray Keith, who joined the Delray Beach Fire Department in 2016, lost his battle with colon cancer. The dedicated firefighter and recognized leader leaves behind a legacy of service, having been named Firefighter of the Year in 2022. As a tribute, Tunnel to Towers has eliminated the mortgage on his family’s home, providing a sense of security for his wife Amanda and their three children.
2025 Season of Hope Campaign Goals
This holiday season, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation seeks to provide 50 life-changing homes to heroes' families across nearly half the country, fulfilling its promise to honor those who sacrifice for our safety. The campaign runs from December 1 to Christmas Eve, ensuring that the spirit of hope extends throughout the festive season.
Final Words of Gratitude
Frank Siller, the Chairman and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support received: “Thanks to the generosity of America, we are able to deliver not just houses but homes filled with hope and love for these brave families.”
