UB Community Development, LLC (UBCD) has secured a significant financing package, including a $10.5 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation for The Andalusian Boutique Hotel. This project will be realized in partnership with Jason Wood from Wood Development. The investment will enable the comprehensive renovation of the historic First National Bank Building, also known as the Timmerman Building.
The Timmerman Building: A Glimpse into History
Constructed in 1920 and designed in the esteemed Beaux-Arts architectural style by Frank Lockwood, the six-story Timmerman Building is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The planned changes aim to infuse new energy into this iconic structure, transforming it into a modern 58-room boutique hotel, part of the Ascend Collection by Choice Hotels International.
Expanding the Vision
The renovation efforts extend beyond the Timmerman Building, reaching into the upper floors of the adjacent Andala Building, which is home to Big Mike's Steak House. These floors will be transformed into additional guest rooms, linked to the main lobby through innovative connector ramps, enhancing the distinctive character of the downtown area.
