The initial assessments have detected copper mineralization within coarse-grained chalcopyrite and cubanite, suggesting that traditional sulfide concentration methods could yield successful recovery rates.
Understanding the Lion Deposit
The Lion deposit comprises two distinct zones: the high-grade (HG) zone and the lower-grade hanging-wall (LG) zone. The majority of the metal value resides within the high-grade zone, which features a semi-massive to massive copper sulfide mineralization structure. By analyzing the two zones separately, Power Metallic aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the deposit's potential.
Collection and Preparation of Sample Material
To perform accurate metallurgical studies, Power Metallic has compiled drill core reject samples that represent the diverse mineralization across the deposit. The high-grade zone is assessed by 103 samples from 15 drill holes, while the lower-grade zone is represented by 99 samples from 10 drill holes. This comprehensive sampling strategy ensures the testing results will reflect the characteristics of the entire deposit.
Composite Formation for Testing
Each zone's sample rejects constitute approximately 300 kg of material, carefully delivered to the SGS laboratory. From these samples, SGS will create 75 kg composites for both the high-grade and low-grade zones, ensuring proper representation of the geological intervals during testing. The blending of these materials will help assess the overall recovery of copper, palladium, platinum, gold, silver, and nickel from the deposit.
