This post may be somewhat off-topic but the board has been rather quiet lately so I thought I would post about my experience with the blu cig disposable unit.
First of all, I have to say that overall I was extremely impressed with the unit. I think the idea for disposable ecigs is simply great.
The unit was $10 and was purchased at a regular convenience store. You can see the details and reviews of the device here :
http://www.blucigs.com/disposables-tobacco.html
The store had them behind the counter above the regular tar cig packs in plain view and encased in a nice plastic container.
I had a feeling of prestige asking for the product because a manager needed to come over to unlock the box to hand me one to buy.
I don't know if that kind of delay is a positive or negative for the population of consumers but my impression was that it gave me a sense
that the product was of higher value than the regular old tar cigs on the shelves under the blu cigs.
The product is not sold to minors (under 18) so the consumer must also show ID.
The packaging was very nice; great design, coloring, quality, etc, as you can see from the photo above.
The packaging also has the standard verbiage indicating that the device is NOT intended for smoking "cessation".
The single disposable unit is housed in a plastic holder and there is nothing else in the package.
It is easy to begin using the product as all one must do is pull a small rubber cap on the tip and remove a small sticker over the carburetor.
The unit felt heavier than I thought it would be for a disposable. It was still quite light but it just added to my impression of quality that the unit felt of substance in my hand.
The first draw immediately lit up the blue tip (light) and the puff was perfect. The device is finely tuned to activate when the user draws normally.
The activator does not sense airflow (breath) blowing into the device, only out of the unit.
The best puffs were when I pulled on the unit for a decent amount of time and it was allowed to really heat up and I got a lot of vapor.
Long drawn out puffs lead the best experience. Even with really long and frequent puffs though the unit did not become hot to the touch, though I did sense a slight warmth on my finger tips, but only for a moment.
The vapor was really smooth and it had no scent and if held in for a few seconds would no longer be visible on exhalation.
One thing I did not like but it has nothing to do with this particular device is the slight tingling (burning) sensation at the back of my throat.
This is totally normal though for vaporizing as the nicotine is absorbed by the mucous membranes; I just am not a smoker and vape very infrequently so I sensed this to a higher degree than would a smoker.
I felt the nicotine buzz immediately. The device certainly does it's job! It delivered a very smooth and nice nicotine experience.
The packaging states that it is good for about 400 puffs or so and I have had it for almost a week and it is still going strong. It really depends on how
long are your puffs and how frequently you toke.
Overall, I am quite impressed with the blu cig disposable and I think it is a great product!
Perhaps RFMK should consider creating it's own kind of disposable unit to add variety to it's product line.
I really think the disposables are a great idea and I believe that over time they will become more and more popular with smokers and vapers.
Another thought is that while I enjoyed the elegance of the cigarette dimensions of the device, as a consumer I would have really liked even better a smaller disposable unit, perhaps one that is not as noticeable. By that I mean it would be very cool to have a disposable device which is not even in the shape of a cigarette but instead perhaps a smooth oval shape, very small, which could be fit up on the palate inside the mouth, maybe hooking onto the two front teeth somehow and resting up high behind the front teeth so as to be hands-free. While it's in the user could just breath normally through the mouth if he/she wants a "puff" and if not then just keep the mouth closed and breath through the nose. Also speech would not be impaired so long as it does not inhibit the action of the tongue. There are brace/retainer (orthodontic) devices which are of this form. Anyway, just an interesting thought.
By the way, I was traveling and while inside the airport terminal I took out the unit and began using it and even with airport personnel seeing me puff, no one complained and no one told me to quit. I did ask a flight attendant on the plane though if their use was allowed and she said that each airline has their own policy on it but she did not know of any airline which has yet adopted a policy which allows you to use an ecig in-flight, so suffice it to say that for now anyway, it is against their policy to use it on the plane.
I think ecigs are the future and disposables are a great way for casual vapers to experience nicotine without having to go through all the rigor of owning a kit with liquid, charging devices, etc. And for smokers it is so much more clean and pure than dealing with toxic chemical combustion by-products.
I think a good idea for the CannaCig would be to make a disposable version and sell it in MJ shops were MJ is legal; especially in Amsterdam and thereabouts where more and more people still like to frequent the MJ cafe's and shops but do not want to get dirty and stay and toke for hours but would rather just drop by and pick up a $10 disposable and then walk around with it and go about their daily business.
I think if RFMK began branching out into disposables they could grab a decent market share and sales, especially by specializing in canna-type disposable ecigs (where ever it is legal to sell of course). I think for the consumer, the impulse to buy a cheap disposable unit is much greater than to make the commitment to purchase an entire kit.
If anyone has any comments, questions, suggestions or would like to discuss ecigs in general, please feel free to post your thoughts.
