Agoura Hills Dental Clinic Provides Online Resources for Patients

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., Sept. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A newly-opened family and cosmetic dentistry center seeks to add value to its services by sharing its expertise online. According to Dr. John M. Abajian, Artistic Smiles is making an ever-growing number of resources available to patients through its website, www.DrAbajian.com . "We regard our website not only as a virtual storefront, but also as a full-featured information center. It is our hope that patients will bookmark the site as a trusted resource and for scheduling their dental appointments online," says the dentist.

Dr. Abajian states that he and the other members of the Artistic Smiles team place significant emphasis on practitioner-patient communication and patient education as a critical aspect of proper care. "Patients need to base their decisions regarding their health on what they truly understand about the procedures and methods offered, not on unfounded fears or incomplete information," he says.

In response, the team has equipped the clinic's website to serve as an information center stockpiled with content about the clinic itself, easy-to-grasp explanations of the various types of procedures offered, and helpful details about the types of insurance accepted. These and other types of content, explains the dentist, allow patients to understand how the recommended procedures benefit their health and enable them to prepare for the visit beforehand.

Multimedia technology helps the Agoura Hills dentist illustrate and explain many of these procedures and the conditions they are meant to correct. Multiple 3D animated clips provide detailed looks at common tooth and gum problems, preventative care measures (both at home and in the office), and a variety of orthodontic issues ranging from bite problems to missing teeth. "The more people feel that they know these issues and their treatments, the more likely they are to take action and get the help they need," Dr. Abajian says.

Dr. Abajian calls attention to what he feels is one of the handiest features on the website, downloadable patient forms. He points out that by filling out these forms in advance of the appointment, patients can save a significant amount of time attending to these details in the waiting room, make for shorter, more easily scheduled visits. As a further aid to helping patients set appointments that they can actually keep, the website also displays a monthly calendar.

The most frequently updated section of the website is its blog. Dr. Abajian notes that new articles on various relevant topics are posted on a regular basis, with the aim of encouraging patients to bookmark it as a useful and engaging source of dental information. He expresses the hope that an increasing number of patients will do so.

Artistic Smiles offers pediatric and family dentistry , cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, Invisalign braces and one-day crowns for Agoura Hills residents.
