Will Obamacare Cost Family Of 4 An Additional $7,4
Post# of 512
On June 5, 2008, Sen. Barack Obama was campaigning for the presidency and made the following promise :
“In an Obama administration, we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year ….. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States.”
So much for keeping campaign promises. Ever since Obama and the Democrats forced Obamacare on the American public in 2010, costs for healthcare and medical treatment has continued to rise. In some areas of the nation, costs will go up as much as 70% once Obamacare and the exchanges are fully implemented.
One report, which comes from the experts working for Medicare’s actuary says that over the first ten years, Obamacare will increase health related spending for all Americans by $621 billion. Chris Conover, a contributor to Forbes took the year by year cost increases attributed to the Affordable Care Act, divided it by the projected US population for each year to determine the added cost per person. Then he multiplied that amount by four to represent a typical family and how much additional cost Obamacare will amount to. His figure over the next ten years was $7,450.
Conover’s figures start in 2014, not now, so the huge increase that millions of Americans will see between October and the end of December is not calculated into his figure. The $7,450 is additional increase on top of the extortionist prices millions of Americans are being forced to pay between now and December 31. The 7% to more than 70% increases I mentioned are already figured into the base amount that Conover starts with.
Conover does not take the initial cost increases that many people will see. These increases will vary from state to state. A few states like California may actually see the cost for healthcare policies decrease, while states like Ohio are projected to see increases of 70% . That means that a family of four in Ohio currently paying $300 a month ($3,600 a year) for their family health plan, could see an increase of $210 per month ($2,520 a year), before Conover’s projected increases take effect. If you add this increase to the one Conover reported for ten years, Ohio families may actually be paying ($25,200 plus $7,450) $32,650 MORE over the next ten years than they are spending now.
There are hundreds of thousands of Ohio families that cannot afford this kind of an increase to their expenses, especially in today’s struggling economy and job market. Whether Conover’s figures or any others are accurate, the bottom line is that Obamacare is going to do the exact opposite of what Obama promised. It will raise the cost of health care and make it less accessible to the American people and too many people will die an early death because of it. That is why it is so important to tell your US Representative and Senator to not give in to Obama and that they must defund Obamacare, even if it means shutting down the federal government.
