Girl, 14, snatched in Georgia home invasion
he FBI has joined the search for a 14-year-old girl who was kidnapped early Tuesday morning from her home in an Atlanta, Georgia, suburb by two armed men.
Ayvani Hope Perez was last seen wearing blue and grey Star Wars pajama bottoms and a blue and gray superhero shirt, according to an Amber Alert. She is Hispanic, has black hair and brown eyes, is four-feet-nine-inches tall and weighs 93 pounds. She may be traveling in a gray Dodge.
Law enforcement released these composite sketches of the men suspected of taking Ayvani Perez.
The two suspects, described as black men who were wearing dark clothing, pried open the family's back door at around 2:15 a.m. ET Tuesday in Ellenwood, Georgia, according to police. Perez's mother told investigators she tried to hide her two children but the gunman found them and demanded money and jewelry.
Police say the two men shot the family dog -- who survived -- and abducted Ayvani after the family failed to met their demands.
When the two masked gunmen burst into the Ellenwood home early Tuesday, the mother tried unsuccessfully to hide her two teenage children to protect them.
Now she and other family members are trying to raise a $10,000 ransom to give the men who kidnapped her youngest, 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez, after their demand for cash and jewelry went unmet in the robbery attempt.
Rarely heard of kidnap ransom demands came from two people who law enforcement officials say were strangers to the family before the home invasion.
There have been no sightings of Ayvani since she went missing in the metro Atlanta area, according to police. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Clayton County Police Department at 678-610-4781
