SAN DIEGO, Sept. 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Silver&Fit Exercise and Healthy Aging Program for Medicare Advantage members has expanded its range of Silver&Fit no-cost or low-cost class offerings to include the popular Geri-Fit ® fitness program.
Geri-Fit ® classes will be available to Silver&Fit members at a number of participating Silver&Fit fitness facilities. The 45-minute program focuses on improving functional capacity, balance, flexibility and strength using light weights and stretch bands. There is no choreography to learn, or structured aerobics. Most exercises are performed while seated in chairs and the participants never have to get on the floor.
"Low impact strength and flexibility activities are important in helping older adults maintain muscle mass and balance, while reducing their chances of osteoporosis, so they can easily continue their daily activities," said Silver&Fit's Fitness Network Management Vice President Brett Hanson.
