Tough thing is, a large area of reconstruction is within range of the Fukishima disaster. Theyve been downplaying the severity of it the whole time, and now Im reading that a handful of newborns in CALIFORNIA have been diagnosed with thyroid conditions that relate to the plume coming over. Its very very limited, but nonetheless there has been a noticeable uptick. And theyve been using equipment that only goes to 100milliseiverts, until only recently where they are now measuring up to 2,000. Now they are clearly just guessing with what to do next. Itll be multiple years before its fully contained, and it could get worse in the interim. So expect a decade worth of increased steel useage at least as Japan rebuilds and continues to unleash Abenomics. I hope they stick with it, because it could be the model the Western World has been to politically bogged down to try, and success in Japan will eliminate any final remaining shred of credibility for the austerity vs. Stimulus debate. Apparently the main research paper being riddled with errors wasnt good enough yet. Not surprised.
