Tallahassee Police Brutality: Slam Woman's Face In
Post# of 512
I am appalled, disgusted, and outraged with the arrogance, corruption, and nonchalant attitude that is running so rampant across our nation by so called "police officers." While the police are paid by citizens to protect us and keep the peace, more and more "officers" have become the abusive criminals we pay them to protect us from.
Politicians, Judges, and Police Departments all across the nation are involved with covering up "criminal actions" of "police officers." They cover up in many different ways. Whether by being complicit with criminal actions of officers by not filing criminal charges, or by simply dropping charges against the "victim" hoping that these violations of human rights will disappear into the night never to see the light of day. Sometimes "officials" will place criminal officers on paid leave during an investigation to calm down the public "which amounts to paid vacation" for the out of control criminals with a badge. Paid leave "vacation" rewards "officers" for their criminal behavior instead of punishing them for their crimes and putting them in jail where they belong. Citizens that are being abused have their lives turned upside down. They have to deal not only with enduring the pain from physical abuse but the emotional trauma as well. Their mind has to process and try to understand why a person whom is supposed to "protect" them and keep them safe has now become their attacker. They deal with the emotion of betrayal in the most intimate way. While these criminals hide behind a "tin badge", are getting paid leave, and not thinking twice about their criminal actions against those who pay their salary.
On August 10, 2013 44 year old Christina West was one such victim of the Tallahassee Florida Police Department. According to Police State USA TALLAHASSEE — Shocking video evidence shows how Tallahassee police officers used an unprovoked act of violence against a woman they were arresting for driving under the influence.
In front of their own dashboard camera, without any legitimate provocation, two officers drilled a woman face-first into the road, then knelt on her head, causing startling physical trauma. In the early hours of August 10, Tallahassee police arrived at the scene of an alcohol-related accident. The suspect, 44-year-old Christina West, was put through field-sobriety testing and determined to be intoxicated.
During the arrest, the inebriated woman flailed her arm as the officer attempted to handcuff her. “DON’T YOU F***ING TOUCH ME,” Officer Chris Ormerod roared. The officers are then seen forcefully slamming the 5?-6?, 130 pound woman face-first to the hard ground, followed by a giving her a gratuitous knee to the back of her head, exacerbating her facial trauma. She can be heard screaming in pain as she is being pressed into the road by two male assailants.
Officer Ormerod continued to press her face into the ground with his arm. West was arrested on a charge of DUI and several counts of battery on a law-enforcement officer, according to Tallahassee.com. Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs said he was shocked by brutality of the officers, and will not prosecute West for battery on a police officer. “I am extremely upset,” he said in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat. “It is very disturbing. This is a very disturbing situation to me, and I’m dealing with it.” “
The video was taken from the police car and shows the road side sobriety test as well as the arrest of the subject,” City Commissioner Scott Maddox wrote to city officials. “It also shows DISTURBING use of force against a completely non aggressive arrestee. It is my belief that the city of Tallahassee will soon face a liability lawsuit based on the content of the video.”
After being hospitalized, West was determined to have suffered a broken orbital bone, a swollen eye, bloody nose and cuts to her arms and legs.
Arresting Officer Chris Ormerod excluded details from his written statement, according to Tallahassee.com. Ormerod wrote that West was “placed on the ground” after resisting being put in handcuffs. He omitted the part where she was bent over his vehicle and then body-slammed to the road, followed by a crushing knee to the head. Tallahassee Police Chief Dennis Jones has opened an investigation. No comment on the future employment of the officers.
Do you know how much force it takes to break an orbital bone? According to MD Guidelines it takes a lot of force to even cause a fracture. Christina West's orbital bone is reported broken, which only solidifies the fact that they used brute force when they slammed her into the pavement. The video of the incident can be seen here provided by Tallahassee.com.
One of the most disturbing things about these officers criminal abuse is the way they carried out their actions in a cold, calculated way, while other citizens just walked by as if everything was normal, and there was nothing wrong with the police's criminal actions.
While Mrs. West screamed out in pain, people walked by as if there was nothing to see. This shows that Americans have become desensitized to police abuse and it has become normal to them. That my friends is a terrifying reality indeed. Mrs. West was clearly cooperative, and polite with these "officers" and did not get agitated until they started physically abusing her. At the end of the video you will also be able to hear these "officers" trying to get their story straight "making up lies" for their report. While there is no excuse for drunk driving, there is also NO excuse for police brutality and officers should be held to a higher standard than the average citizen.
These officers as of the time of this article are still employed, working for the Tallahassee Florida Police Department, and NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED. If we as a nation do not unify and hold ALL these criminals that hide behind their badges accountable, then it becomes an acceptable practice for "police officers" to abuse the citizens they are supposed to protect. Illegal actions of "officers" has become more and more accepted by our politicians, police forces, and judicial system on a daily basis.
If we refuse to speak out against these horrible criminal actions, we should not expect anyone to speak out for us when the tables are turned. This could be your wife, your daughter, your mother, your neighbor, or you! Help to speak out against this injustice and DEMAND, criminal charges be filed against each police officer involved. Including those that stood around and did nothing to stop this abuse. They can be charged under the "guilty by association law" because their silence spoke loud and clear that they were complicit with the other officers in these criminal actions.
They ALL must be held accountable.
