The end-of-August short interest represents 5.03 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.17 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 543 securities on The NASDAQ Capital Market SM totaled 482,841,711 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 30, 2013 compared with 474,021,574 shares in 538 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 4.56 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period's figure of 5.63.
In summary, short interest in all 2,671 NASDAQ® securities totaled 7,442,053,079 shares at the August 30, 2013 settlement date, compared with 2,675 issues and 7,378,326,489 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
