Everytime I hear career senators pontificating and posturing, I think of how desperately we need term limits for Congress and repeal of  the 17th amendment. There was an average 50% turnover of Congress in every election cycle in the 19th century before 17th amendment. Now it makes headlines if 10-15% are replaced. Never intended as a lifetime career.
