AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Merge Interactive and Bonnier Corp announce the release of Field & Stream Fishing for OS X. Fresh from a successful launch on Windows 8, Field & Stream Fishing showcases gorgeous fish and majestic scenery at 15 fishing locations with unique underwater environments. Targeted casting and addictive swipe gameplay makes catching fish more fun than ever before!

Field & Stream Fishing is fast-paced and accessible, featuring arcade-style gameplay with casting targets, exciting fights and 22 beautiful species of game fish.

Field & Stream Fishing players explore and experience the beauty of the most popular fishing lakes in America including New Melones, Torch Lake, and Lake Amistad. Robbers Cave, White Bear Lake, and Kenai can be added by action-hungry anglers through In-App Purchases. Players are started with an inventory of lures that can also be expanded. Each of the underwater environments and above-water vistas are inspired by the actual locations.

Field & Stream Fishing for OS X introduces new features and upgrades to previous versions, providing an immersive gameplay experience for armchair anglers on the OS X platform."

Players have five chances per outing to land the heaviest catch and set new records. Targets on the surface of the water identify areas of a fishing spot that are likely to contain high populations of larger fish. Cast into the targets and use the different lures to coax a fish into taking the bait. Reel back and swipe to fight the fish all the way to the shore.

Players can compete with their friends by signing in to Apple's Game Center, where they will find Leaderboards and a Challenge system fully supported by the game. Additionally, fish are featured on the Trophy Wall, which showcases a 3-D model of each species caught, showing the heaviest weight and location of trophy catches.
