Can one you industry experts comment and help me out here because some of this is guess work? I am probably wrong but here is how understand the ongoing SJ #3 process. It is being perfed and acidized for a second time? There were qty 2 fractures created during the first perforation process and one was an upper zone and one was a lower zone. The lower zone contained nothing but high amounts of water and they spent approx. one week swabbing 1000's of gallons of water. That zone was sealed or cemented over or similar with whatever materials they use. The upper zone showed oil but it was compromised and/or accidentally sealed during the lower fractures re-sealing. My common sense tells me how this could happen during the re-sealing process. Materials travel upwards when filling a bore so how would a completion team be able to mask the 1st fracture thousands of feet below the surface? IMO they would simply reseal both fractures and then re-perf and re-acidize the zone with the area of interest i.e. oil. I assume this is a time consuming and requires a careful operation so they don't compromise the entire well.
